GWM has announced the Brazilian debut of the Haval H9, a smart 7-seater SUV engineered for all-terrain capability. After undergoing 3.7 million miles (6 million kilometers) of testing across 76 different environments, the model was put to the test under extreme cold, heat, high altitude, and high-corrosion conditions to ensure performance, durability, and reliability.

The official launch is set for September 12, featuring a promotional price of R$ 309,000 for the exclusive TD480 trim. Starting September 20, the price will adjust to R$ 319,000.

Safety and Interior Comfort

The Haval H9 debuts in Brazil with one of the most comprehensive safety and comfort packages in the 7-seater SUV segment. Standard equipment includes six airbags—with curtain airbags protecting all three seating rows—alongside advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS 2+), such as adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Another technical highlight is the Integrated Brake Control (IBC) system, which replaces traditional hydraulic setups to deliver faster braking response times. The cabin features “Business Class” front seats with eight massage modes, ventilation, heating, and position memory. Additional amenities include a heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, acoustic glass for the windshield and front windows, and a 640W RMS premium sound system with 10 speakers.

Powertrain and Performance

The SUV is powered by a 2.4-liter turbo-diesel engine producing 184 hp and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) of torque, paired with a GWM-developed nine-speed automatic transmission. According to the automaker, 50% of the torque is available at just 1,000 rpm, with 100% delivered from 1,500 rpm. The powertrain is tuned for immediate pull, crisp gear shifts, and a quiet ride with reduced noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH).

The four-wheel-drive (4WD) system features front and rear differential locks, a low-range transfer case, and seven driving modes via GWM’s All-Terrain Control System (ATCS). Unique features include “Tank Turn”—which reduces the turning radius by up to 4.9 feet (1.5 meters)—and a 540-degree surround-view system with a transparent chassis view.

Off-Road Specifications

Designed for demanding trails, the H9 boasts an approach angle of 31°, a departure angle of 25°, 8.8 inches (224 mm) of ground clearance, and the ability to climb inclines up to 57% (29.7°). The SUV features a class-leading wading depth of up to 31.5 inches (800 mm). Suspension consists of an independent double-wishbone setup at the front and a five-link rigid axle at the rear, both equipped with stabilizer bars to ensure off-road stability.

Dimensions and Cargo Capacity

The H9 measures 194.8 inches (4.95 m) in length, 77.5 inches (1.97 m) in width, 76.0 inches (1.93 m) in height, and features a class-leading wheelbase of 112.2 inches (2.85 m). Cargo capacity ranges from 3.1 cubic feet (88 liters) with all seven seats occupied to 55.8 cubic feet (1,580 liters) with the rear rows folded flat.

The vehicle is also equipped with 220V/400W and 12V/120W power outlets, roof rails rated for 165 lbs (75 kg), and a towing capacity of up to 5,511 lbs (2,500 kg).

Design and Technology Integration

On the exterior, the Haval H9 features matrix Full-LED headlights, 3D taillights, 19-inch alloy wheels, a three-dimensional grille, and automatic retractable side steps tested for over 150,000 cycles.

Inside, connectivity is anchored by a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. The cabin also offers a 50W wireless phone charger and multiple USB-C and USB-A ports.

Unprecedented Warranty Coverage

GWM is introducing the Haval H9 with the most extensive warranty in the Brazilian market:

  • 10-Year Warranty: Covers the engine, transmission, axles, brakes, steering gearbox, and air conditioning.
  • 5-Year Warranty: Covers suspension, steering wheel, interior trim, dashboard, and infotainment system.

This coverage significantly surpasses key segment competitors like the Toyota SW4, which offers only a three-year warranty on those components.

Availability

The GWM Haval H9 will initially be offered in three exterior colors: Zenith Graphite (Matte), Khalifa Black, and Noronha White. Sales begin on September 12 via GWM’s official website and dealership network across Brazil.
