Embraer staged a special projection on Rio de Janeiro’s iconic Christ the Redeemer statue on Saturday (June 6) as part of events marking the opening of the 82nd International Air Transport Association Annual General Meeting (IATA AGM). The summit convenes global aviation leaders in Rio from June 6 through June 8.

The initiative utilized the landmark—one of Brazil’s foremost symbols—to highlight themes of innovation, efficiency, safety, and sustainability in aviation. The projected imagery showcased technologies developed by the Brazilian aerospace manufacturer and underscored the airline industry’s role in global integration, tourism, and economic development.

According to Embraer President and CEO Francisco Gomes Neto, the event represented a milestone moment for Brazil’s aerospace industry before international sector leaders.

“Air transport is a cornerstone of the modern world, with a direct impact on the economy, society, and global integration. Conducting this projection on one of the Seven Wonders of the World—which symbolizes Brazil’s identity, hospitality, and global image—is a source of great pride,” stated Gomes Neto.

Key highlights of the projection included the E2 family of commercial jets, which Embraer bills as the most efficient aircraft in their category. The company positions these regional jets as key solutions for cutting carbon emissions and noise levels, aligning with global aviation sustainability targets.

In Brazil, E2 jets are already part of Azul’s fleet and are scheduled for future incorporation into LATAM’s operations.

In addition to honoring IATA AGM delegates, the initiative included a social impact component. A portion of Embraer’s investment in the projection will go to the Nossa Senhora da Gratidão Professional Training Center, maintained by the Obra Social Leste Um – O Sol charity and part of the Consórcio Cristo Sustentável.

The organization focuses on professional qualification, income generation, entrepreneurship, and workforce inclusion for vulnerable women, aiming to boost employment opportunities, foster financial independence, and improve living standards for participating families.

The IATA AGM stands as one of the global airline industry’s premier gatherings, bringing together airline executives, manufacturers, government officials, and experts to discuss key challenges and outlooks for international aviation.
